VIRTUAL RACE OPTIONS

Virtual Options

There are many who have not elected an option to defer or run virtually. If you are planning to run virtually, we'll need you to make that change in order for you to be able to submit your time. If you want to defer, the deadline to defer is April 3. You can change your registration, or check your status by logging into your profile. Please see the change event link for instructions. If you are unable to find the event under your Run Signup profile, please visit the merge profile link for instructions to merge the race into your profile.

RACE JOY

This option is only available if you intend to run on the actual Dismal Swamp Canal Trail course. You will need to download the app on your phone and carry it with you as you run the actual Dismal Swamp Stomp course. We've enabled this to be active between Monday 3/30 and Sunday 4/5 so that you can practice safe distancing and crowd protocol by running it on your own time. We've added some treats into the app for you as you complete the course. Of course this will be self guided and self supported.  This run is self directed.  Please note that the finish line is marked on the pavement just before you reach the yellow gates onto the trail, and the start is 1/10 of a mile up the trail beyond the bear and adjacent to the first signage on the trail.  The start is also marked in paint.  You will receive notifications from the app at each mile and at the turn around.

If you wish to run your own virtual event, you can complete your run and post to either or Run Signup or Athlinks.  To post to Run Signup, just log into your Run Signup profile and click on the button to submit virtual results.

The Dismal Swamp Canal Trail off Route 17 offers runner forested wetlands and a peaceful paved path along the wilderness of the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. Runners can opt for half marathon, 5K, or kids half mile distances

RACE INFORMATION

Dismal Swamp Stomp offers all of the perks of larger races minus the big crowds. If you're tired of feeling like a herd of cattle, you'll love Dismal Swamp Stomp!

Custom race T-shirt, finisher medal for all. Custom carved heron awards to overall and age group winners. $4,000 in prize money to the top 5 overall male and female age graded winners in the half marathon.
